“Pumpkins, Pigs & Pirates: Tales of Arthur Geisert” Opening Reception and Book Signing
March 2nd @ 12PM–1PM | Waterloo Center for the Arts
Waterloo Center for the Arts is hosting an opening reception for the new Phelps Youth Pavilion exhibit, “Pumpkins, Pigs & Pirates: Tales of Arthur Geisert,” honoring the works of award-winning Iowa illustrator and author, Arthur Geisert. In this new exhibit, visitors can enter the whimsical worlds of Geisert’s stories with interactive experiences like climbing aboard a pirate ship, cooking on a school bus, picking pumpkins from a pumpkin patch, or drawing a piggy pirate from his popular book: Pigaroons. The event is free to the public and welcomes kids of all ages. Light refreshments will be served, and Arthur will be on hand to autograph books or answer any questions you may have. Artist Reception | A Period of Time: Patrick Luber 2005-2025

Waterloo Center for the Arts invites you to join them for an artist reception and gallery talk with Patrick Luber. Come and hear about his solo exhibition: “A Period of Time.” Constructing his new series of sculptures out of recycled materials and scraps of popular cultures, Luber looks at aspects of faith and culture from the theological to the political and to the scientific through his own sincere, quirky, and sometimes humorous vision. Refreshments will be available as well.

With warmer weather on the way, it’s the perfect time to go out and find something new to spruce up your style this spring. The Homestead Makers and Vintage Market is just the place to go! They’re offering the best vintage, antique, artisan, boutique, and repurposed vendors from all over Iowa and beyond! World’s Greatest Spring Break for Kids
March 17th-21st
You don’t have to travel to give your kids the most AMAZING spring break! Since 2010, The World’s Greatest Spring Break for Kids has given our community the opportunity to enjoy Waterloo’s premier recreational facilities and arts attractions for just $1 per child or adult! All of the participating venues are conveniently located within six blocks of each other. Free parking is available at each venue, as well as at the centrally located lot across the street from the Veterans Museum, next to the highway. Kids are expected to be accompanied by an adult.
